Dutch cardiologist, Dr. Pim van Lommel gives a lecture at the congress on June 3, 2018 in Bad Nauheim: Titled, ͞The Limits of Consciousness,͟ he presents his research on near-death experiences (NDE). Due to the improved survivial rate of severely ill patients, NDE’s are increasing. The content of a NDE and its effects are comparable in all cultures. In Europe, approximately 20 million people are affected by NDE’s. Among the transformational changes that occur following NDE’s, the elimination of a fear of death and the belief in life after death are common. However, if an NDE is not positively intergrated into an individuals life, depression and a persistent sense of homelessness and lonliness have been known to occur. The results of Dr. Pim van Lommel’s research is synthysized in his book, Endless Conciousness.
