Due to the improved survivial rate of severely ill patients, NDE\u2019s are increasing. The content of a NDE and its effects are comparable in all cultures. In Europe, approximately 20 million people are affected by NDE\u2019s. Among the transformational changes that occur following NDE\u2019s, the elimination of a fear of death and the belief in life after death are common. However, if an NDE is not positively intergrated into an individuals life, depression and a persistent sense of homelessness and lonliness have been known to occur.
